For over two decades, the Monster Buck Contest has brought together hunters from across Texas to celebrate ethical hunting, wildlife conservation, and family traditions. 

Based in La Vernia, Texas, our organization is committed to preserving the heritage of hunting while giving back to the community through scholarships, youth involvement, and thousands of dollars in annual prizes.

The Monster Bucks mission is to strengthen family traditions, encourage youth involvement in the outdoors, promote ethical hunting and conservation, while supporting graduating seniors through scholarship opportunities. 

Founded in 2002, over a casual poker game among twelve friends, the Monster Buck Contest began with a simple bet on who could shoot the biggest buck. Over the past 24 years, that friendly competition has grown into a premier event featuring over 300 contestants across multiple divisions. As our community has expanded, we've grown from the backyard at Ryan‘s rent house in Saint Hedwig to  Ryan's parents guest house to the Mesquite Bean and the Chamber of Commerce, and now host its annual event at the Copper Door.
